The Wonderfully Boring Days of Fall

For some bizarre reason, I have always looked forward to the ‘boring’ days of adult/parenthood -- the lazy days spent with the family, just enjoying each other’s company.  Yes, we’re a family filled with wanderlust and adventurous spirits, but we're just as happy simply putzing around town and lazing around the house, too.

Lately,

We laze around in bed for a while...
Then, we eat breakfast.
Eliza helps Daddy with the chores...
...and with making Mama's coffee.
Next, there's playtime with Portly (and the rest of the toys)...
And lots of reading.
Sometimes we swing at the park...
Sometimes, we have to run errands at Target (and play dress-up)...
Sometimes, we go to the beach...
And, sometimes, we play with our girlfriends.
Then, we take a long nap (and wake up with fabulous bed head).
After nap time, Eliza checks her itinerary and lets us know what she's planned.
She often includes picnics in the park...
And tickle time, too.
Which sometimes, results in bumps and bruises.
And sometimes, she misbehaves and ends up in time out...
And then tries to run away.
But most of the time, she likes to get bundled up...
...and explore (she's a fantastic pumpkin hunter).
Every once and a while, she has a party to attend.
And when she's feeling generous, she treats us to fabulous dinners (she's a good tipper, too, btw!).
But, most of the time, she doesn't care where she is or what she's up to, so long as she's with the ones she loves.
It's exhausting being this wonderfully boring.
