A Very Quick Update

Well, that was a very long, unexpected hiatus from the blogging world! Between moving down to Virginia, celebrating the holidays and undergoing an underway for Scott, we’ve had our hands full.

When I left off, we had just celebrated our baby girl’s first birthday. Picking up today, she is 14-months-old.

Her thirteenth and fourteenth months were full of fun, celebration and family.

And walking.
Now that she's walking, she. never. stops.
And a move.

We managed to squeeze every last thing we own into the car and make our way to Virginia after we, sadly, said goodbye to our Newport girlfriends.

We moved down to Virginia the day before Thanksgiving, arriving just in time to head over the the Miles’ house for oysters and turkey.

In her Thanksgiving best.
Back with the fam.
Scott had to leave that weekend to finish up school in Rhode Island so Eliza and I spent some time getting the house in order. We wrapped up our two weeks sans Scott with a trip down to Alabama to attend my cousin's wedding.

Helping in the yard.
Unfortunately, I didn't get many photos in Alabama.  But here's Eliza spending time with her new favorite cousin, Marshall, at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, location of the rehearsal dinner.
Once Scott re-joined us in Virginia, we got busy getting the house ready for our three visitors: our good friend, Doug (who was only staying for two nights), Scott’s parents and my dad (each staying for ten days). If I’m being honest, I must say that I was quite stressed about having such a full house over the holidays. However, I couldn’t have asked for a better two weeks. We truly had the most memorable holiday with our beloved family. And were all spoiled beyond belief.

With Uncle Dougie.
Mimi and Papa.
Grandfather.
Grandma.
Our little Christmas Fairy on Christmas morning.
Eliza's Christmas gift, a leather wing back chair.
What can I say?  The girl has an eye for design.

Merry Christmas, 2011!
So, now that the holidays are over and things are back to ‘normal’, it’s time for Eliza and I to get into the swing of things in our new life here in Virginia.

The honeymoon is over, folks, and reality has hit us with sea duty...

...thank goodness for a good support system, a well-behaved daughter and e-mail!

Cheers to a happy, healthy and safe 2012!

Oh Jessica! So glad to catch up with your last four months... how are you? Eliza is adorable and I hope you both are settling in together, the two of you easily and comfortably, with Scott away at sea. I miss you so much and am thinking of you! Let's chat soon! Love you! MK
